"The future ain't what it used to be."

Looks like I come from 2019

Roberta

Timekeeper
Greetings, guys,

my name is Roberta and I am presently writing from Italy, my home country, so I apologize in advance for my poor English. I have a feeling that I have "involuntarily" travelled from 2019 to the present day, without time machines or any other device, but it looks like I have just woken up from my... future life. Yes, I woke up in my bed, as usual, in the early morning, but I suddenly felt a sense of nostalgia and discomfort as I noticed that the papers, books and comics in my desk (I am an avid reader in my mother tongue) were left in an order which I didn't recognize as mine, because I'm a kind of a messy person and most of the times I'm not willing to be tidy and organized. I looked carefully to my room and I can say that it didn't change that much, as it is for the outsides, it's just that now I feel the average temperature for the summer in my country a little bit hotter than it is in 2019. The only proof (which I suppose it is valid just for me) that I came from the near future was held in my watch, a Casio GA-100-1C7ER, which kept signaling 25-01-2019 as the "official" date for that day before I woke up in 2014. I remember consulting it frequently in 2019; but unfortunately neither my watch nor my clothes or personal accessories (I used to wear thin eyeglasses) followed me in this apparent time travel. I woke up with just a blue cotton t-shirt, my underwear (it didn't change) and a pair of bermuda (slightly looser than my true size).
As you can see I'm pretty clueless about what brought me back in time, and most importantly how. I can say that in the "future" where I lived (now, in my perception, is unfortunately... The past), the feared "Third World War" has not begun and the world of technology is about to uncover important advances in regards to the Human Brain Project; there will be significant advances and there will be more and more evidence about consciousness, which will proven to be non-immortal. More and more people will get into mind-uploading, setting up the path for its realization (though it is common opinion that will not be realized until 2040).
As for now, I am trying to keep up with my ordinary life, but it's not that hard since the only thing it has been changed from my... "future" is technology, and in a slight way. Virtual reality will be pretty popular, and Sony and Nintendo will be the true winners of this competition. Oculus Rift is challenged by a modified version of a Nintendo 3DS device, which is simply called Nintendo VR, and can emulate VR games simply being brought to one person's eyes (it has some kind of binocular support).
Well... For now, that's all. Thank you for listening.

What a predicament you have found yourself in. My first questions for you are these:

How did you know to post in this forum?
Were you a member here prior to 2019?
Instead of expressing fright, bemusement, terror etc of your dilemma, you calmly offer us snippets of what life will be like in 2019. Why did you do this (offer us an insight into what life will be like, when nobody has asked you )?
You say you are interested in keeping up with your ordinary life. How are you doing this exactly? If you were employed in 2019, how on earth can you be employed in 2014? Surely you have a doppleganger here in 2014?

Comics? You time travel here and you feel it necessary to convince us that this actually happened by referencing the comics on your bed stand? Really? Comics?

Information about game consoles is not the thing I would prioritize if such an experience happened to me. If 5 years had been snipped out a lot of stuff would be in that 5 years both personal ( marriage, relationships, jobs, even children?) and world events (wars, natural disasters ).

Okay, so for a second let's say you time traveled in your sleep. No science there to explain. You basically have only the clothes on your back. You have no artifacts from the future. No computer or similar device lol. No money. You decide to post on an English forum even though its not your native language. All you have is your memory. So with that said, all you can prove are dates. You have already given us irrelevant information about the video game market. Any avid gammer would know VR is where its going. Now this Human Brain Project, you are a bit vague on, but I think I get your drift, you are saying that some kind of brain to computer system is implemented. Again some companies are already researching brain biometrics, computers reading your emotions. In Japan they have made cat ears that react to your emotions lol. But I doubt that by 2019 you will be able to upload your brain. If you really want to prove yourself you have to be more specific. Give us something to work with. A specific date name, event. So far no time travelers on this forum have done that successfully. I'm not trying to be mean or anything but I'm sure others feel the same way. I would love for you to be a real time traveler but sadly you do not have any proof. So please prove it.
